Associate Professor Marina M. Shoemaker
Marina Schoemaker is an Associate Professor at the Department of Human Movement Science, University Medical Centre Groningen, the Netherlands. For the past twenty five years, both typically developing children and children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) have been the main focus of her research, which includes assessment (development and evaluation of measuring instruments (MOQ-T, DCDDaily)), the design and evaluation of the effectiveness of intervention of children with DCD (Neuromotor Task Training), and the development of a program to increase physical fitness and participation in physical activities of children with DCD (We12Bfit). She is chair of the Dutch DCD Steering Committee, which aims to reach consensus about assessment and intervention in rehabilitation for children with DCD, and was involved in the international clinical practice guideline for DCD as a member of the expert panel. Moreover, she is a representative of the Dutch DCD professionals in the international DCD research group (DCD-ISR working group). She is the author of more than 60 scientific papers and 13 book chapters in English.
